As a big thank you to all of you that have helped support the club financially over the past 3 years the Committee has elected to hold an in-house fishing competition for all its current members.

Entrance fee: Financial member $5.00, Non-financial member (crew) $10.00
Entries may be pre-paid by contacting Trevor Hosking (06) 364 8424 prior to 31 October or after 8.00am on the day from the caravan located on concrete pad adjacent the Surf Club.
NOTE:
o All boats MUST have at least one Financial club member aboard
o Only pre-paid entrants may launch before 8am on the day of competition – ie you have to be entered in the competition before you take to the water to be eligible for a prize
o Launching and retrieving of craft is to be carried out by boat owners (no assisted launching is offered by organisers) – club tractor will be available for authorised financial members (inducted members only).
o Where two fish of same species are tied in weight the first fish weighed in will take precedence in prize pool.
o All fish to be weighed in by 3pm on day of competition. Weigh-in located on concrete pad adjacent Otaki Surf Club

OTAKI BOATING CLUB FISHING COMPETITION RULES
Eligibility:
All boats MUST have at least one financial member aboard at all times for the duration of the competition
All crew must be paid up competitors (No Passengers).
All entries must be on the official entry form and fees being paid in full.
Individual numbered wristbands issued by tournament registration must be worn at all times during competition and events.
All boats must depart and return from the Otaki Beach boat ramp Marine Pde Otaki.
The number of entrants is not limited.
Responsibility:
The Skipper is responsible for properly equipping the boat and for the safe operation of the boat and the safety of all on board.
The Skipper is responsible for ensuring compliance with Maritime Safety Rules and Standards. Any boat found to be in breach of MinFish Recreational Fishing Regulations will be disqualified.
Please read the NZ Big Game Fishing Council Safe Boating sheet that is attached and put these safety measures in place for your boat and crew.
The Skipper must notify the registration desk staff of any change to crew.
The Skipper is responsible for ensuring that all crew are aware and accept the contest rules
Your accepted entry into the contest is confirmation that you and your crew have read and accept the contest rules and conditions.
(Boats and equipment maybe scrutinized at the contest organizers discretion)

Fishing Methods: Only Rods or Hand Lines with a maximum of 3 hooks per line may be
used or carried on the boat. (No setlines, set nets or fish traps to be carried on the boat)
Weigh In: Only the heaviest fish per category to be weighed. The weigh station will be open from 8am on the day of competition on the Boating Clubs concrete pad, north side of Otaki Surf Club Marine Parade Otaki.
If you have a fish to be weighed, you must be standing in the queue at the weigh station wearing your registration tag before the end of fishing time for that day. (3.00p.m. Saturday).
Do not gut gill or bleed fish.
Weigh station staff may cut or gut after weighing to confirm fish has been weighed or if tampering is suspected.
Fish must be landed at the Otaki Beach boat ramp Marine Pde Otaki and presented to the weigh station, on the Otaki Boating clubs concrete pad, north side of the Surf Club; contestant must be wearing their wristband.
Each Fish may be weighed only once. If you dispute the weight, state this while the fish is on the scales, the staff will check their reading/recording and their decision will become final.
Any tampering detected will result in immediate disqualification of the boat and its crew from the contest.
Undersized fish, according to MinFish Recreational Fishing regulations, will not be weighed.
In the event of a tie, the first fish weighed will be deemed the winner.
Postponements: Will be notified on a board prominently displayed at Otaki Boating club site, concrete pad, and North side of the Otaki Surf Club. Or visit
www.otakiboatingclub.co.nz. You can ring 06 3648424 if postponed, rescheduled for Sunday 1 November 2009. Normal conditions apply
Cancellation: If cancelled, all non-cash category prizes will be drawn by lottery using the contestant numbers. One prize per entry, contestants must be present to collect prize.
Prizegiving: Will be held at the weigh-in station on the concrete pad shortly after 3.00pm or at the Otaki Fire Station in case of bad weather.
Amendments, alterations & notices: Any important notices, amendments or alterations to these rules will be notified on the website or posted on the board at the boating clubs concrete pad site, nth side of the Surf Club prior to commencement of fishing. Please check this board before fishing.
Times: Saturday 31st Fishing from 6.30am to 3.00pm
Sunday 1st Lieu day - same as above
Fishing times may be delayed or altered on the day by contest organizers and such changes will be noted on a board prominently displayed at the Otaki boating club site. Please check this board each day before fishing.
Please Note: Launching & Retrieving Boats is from the beach-4WD access only- Possible soft sand hazards exist-Suitable for light trailer boats up to 18 foot. Club Tractor is available for authorised financial members (you must have been inducted on use of tractor prior to use)
The decision of the contest organizers will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
